Focus tour: Threads Through the Backbone of Latin America

Weaving a post-colonial view

Are museums a collection of dead pieces? Who decides that a poncho should be exhibited or that the Andes are just a pile of dirt and stones? Western hegemonies grant Indigenous creations a holy aura, but only when they are inside the white cube. A tour about mountain textiles, pulling forces, and the crack within the definition of identity.

Mediator: Alexia Manzano is a visual artist and art mediator. She is part of the 11th Berlin Biennales team of mediators.

Focus Tours are free of charge. Participants will reflect on topics together and view a thematic selection of artworks presented in the venues. Thus, this tour is also suitable for visitors who have already seen the exhibition.

Registration and further information: visit@berlinbiennale.de

All tours can also be booked by groups.
